Day 7 - Cardinal

You will probably see a lot of birds on this blog over the next year. I love birdwatching and photographing the beautiful birds I see in my backyard.

This is a male Northern Cardinal. The male Cardinals are the bright red ones you see. Females are a tan/yellowish color with red beaks and red tint on the wings and tail. The brighter red males feed at higher rates than duller males. So I suspect this guy has had a pretty good winter!

Day 3 - A bit of winter color

It was girls day out. I took my dog Charlie, (yes, she's a girl with a boys name. She came with that name when we rescued her.) to the park for some exercize and picture taking. It was overcast so the light wasn't great. But we had fun! Not much color to be found in Connecticut in winter. So it was nice to see these bright red berries in the woods.

Day 2 - Winter Flower

Yep, it's still winter. But seeing this "snow flower" reminded me that spring will soon be here!
